Are you wondering about how to use Pinterest to drive traffic to your website?
Getting started with Pinterest is most times confusing,
but as we all know Pinterest is a good source of traffics to majorities of bloggers, e-commerce owners.
Have you tried using Pinterest to drive traffic to your site or blog and it’s still not working out?
and then you started wondering “how do I use Pinterest to drive traffic to my blog?
If you are looking for how to use Pinterest to drive traffic to your website, you are welcome!
Wow, today I have the opportunity to interview Mariam of boss babe chronicles,
I was baffled on how Mariam was able to drive up to 3.5k views to her blog using Pinterest.
and today she will be sharing with us all her tips,
and also what Pinterest strategy she applied to be able to be getting that amount of views on her blog in a day, wow! this is interesting.
This is the second interview series I am conducting now, you can check out the first interview series here.
You will learn a lot in this interview about how to use Pinterest to drive traffic to your website,
and also try to implement what you have learned from this interview.
Pinterest is a good source of traffic that will drive lots of traffic to your website Click To TweetYou can bookmarked this posts for future reference so that you can come back to it when the need arises.
Without wasting much time let get started!
Please introduce yourself and your blog to our readers?
Sure! My name is Mariam and I started Boss Babe Chronicles in March 2019.
I started out with career advice and general personal development posts,
and since then I have expanded to include personal finance, style, and blogging advice in my posts.
You are doing so well with Pinterest, how do you get started with Pinterest?
Thank you!
I started with Pinterest about a month after starting my blog, when I had about 15 posts that I could promote.
I’d seen a lot of posts from other bloggers about Pinterest being their highest traffic source and decided I wanted to work on generating the same results that these seasoned bloggers had using Pinterest.
How many blog views do you generate to your blog in a day and how do you achieve that?

Every day is a little different, but I am currently bringing in around 3.5K blog views a day, which is the highest number of views I’ve had since I started blogging.
Do you have any specific pin design that does perfectly well on Pinterest? Because most pins get clicked on and some don’t? Why?
“Perfectly well” doesn’t exist on Pinterest. I think it depends on the users on Pinterest and what they’re attracted to.
That is why I always advise anyone who asks about pin designs to have a few templates and create pins around those templates.
What I might find as an attractive pin might not be what someone else is drawn to.
But in general, lighter colors, two readable fonts and a catchy pin title should generate the most clicks.
What niches do you think perform well on Pinterest in terms of pin clicking?
I think food pins, as well as fashion pins, get the most clicks. People are very visual, and with food and fashion pins, you can see what the post is about right off the bat.
If you like the way the chocolate cupcake looks in the pin,
you’ll click on it to be taken to the recipe.
How do you create your pin, do you create them manually or do you use a Pinterest template?
I do both. I have plenty of templates that I have designed myself,
but recently I have purchased 2 template packs from Etsy which I’m really liking.
Buy me some minutes please,
If you may know, mariam has pinterest templates which you can use to create your pins quickly.
Making use of pinterest templates makes it easier for you to create pins easily.

Do you have any online courses or ebooks pertaining to Pinterest?
I do! I wrote Pinterest Perfect which is an ebook all about the Pinterest marketing strategies that have gotten me to almost 5 million monthly viewers.
How long did it take you to master Pinterest and also see growth with it?
It took around 3 months for a few of my pins to go viral. I think that’s perfectly normal with a new account,
but since the algorithm change earlier this year,
other Pinterest users have gotten their first viral pins much earlier than I have.
Is it possible to make money with Pinterest? How can someone achieve that?
Absolutely!
You can link your Pinterest to your website, blog, mailing list, or digital product.
That means more revenue from ads and affiliate links, more sales of your digital or physical products, and more mailing list subscribers which you can make money off of as well.
making money on Pinterest is possible to increase sales in digital products, revenue from ads and affiliate links and more Click To TweetWhat other sources of traffic do you use apart from Pinterest to generate traffic to your blog?
Twitter, and as of recently I’ve also been applying SEO strategies to increase organic traffic to my blog.
Can you name some of your favorite bloggers you look up to in terms of using Pinterest?
I’ve always been such a big fan of Ell from www.ellduclos.blog.
She has been one of the first bloggers whose Pinterest success I’d been inspired by,
and she has always been helpful and transparent in how she generates traffic to her blog using Pinterest.
Do color combination matters in pin design? What color combination do you think do well on Pinterest?
I definitely think you should stay away from dark colors as well as neons. Anything that is easy on the eyes will do well in my opinion.
A lot of bloggers find it difficult to get clicks on their pins including my very self, what do you think is the cause and how can it be solved?
The first thing to realize is that not all the pins you put out will get you many clicks or go viral.
That’s normal. However, I do think using catchy titles and to make your titles about your reader will generate more clicks.
So for example, using “This Productivity Hack Will Change Your Life”
instead of “The Productivity Hack That Changed My Life” will generate more clicks, because people want to know what will work for THEM.
It’s definitely more about them and less about you on Pinterest.
I heard using hashtags on Pinterest is necessary what do you have to say about that?
I don’t think it’s very necessary. The reason for that is that many people, when going on Pinterest, are more likely to type in a bunch of keywords in the search bar instead of hashtags.
It doesn’t hurt to leave 2-3 hashtags in the description, but I don’t for a lot of my pins and they still get decent impressions and clicks.
How many hours in a day do you allocate to creating and designing your Pinterest pins?
I don’t design pins every day, because I personally think it’s a bit of a waste of time. Instead, I batch-create enough pins for the week on one allocated day in the week, and then all that’s left is to schedule a few every day.
Please pin it!
Why do you think Pinterest is a good source of traffic more than social media?
Because Pinterest works as a search engine and not a social media platform. With social media, people tend to use it to be social with others. Pinterest is just for looking up things that interest its users, similar to Google, and that is why it’s such a good source of traffic in my opinion

What is story pins and how can someone use it?
Unfortunately, story pins aren’t available in my region so I have not been able to experiment with them yet!
What is your preferred posting ratio? When you are posting your pins, do you post more of your pins than other people pins or do you post more of other people pins, and why?
I post around 15-20 fresh pins of my own every day and maybe 3-5 from other users. I definitely post more of my own pins because otherwise, I wouldn’t be getting a lot of traffic to my site.
Grab your viral pinterest templates here
Why are monthly viewers in Pinterest normally high and giving no or low traffic to a site and how can it be resolved to increase traffic to a blog or online store?
That might be because you’re pinning too little of your own content, and too much of other pinners’ pins.
Generally, monthly viewers are the people who see your pins in their feeds over the past 30 days,
but the number of clicks is always less.
The reason for that is that not everybody who sees your pins will click on them.
A way to make traffic to your website increase is definitely by working on your pin titles as well as experimenting with different pin templates.
What advice do you have for someone finding it difficult to use Pinterest to drive traffic to their blog or just getting started with Pinterest?
Research, consistency, and patience. There isn’t really another way to go about it.
I got to my first million monthly viewers almost 10 months into using Pinterest, so it does take time.
Often I see Pinterest users get frustrated and want to throw in the towel because they’re not seeing results fast enough, but Pinterest doesn’t work the same for everybody.
Research, consistent and patience work well on Pinterest to drive clicks to your website. Click To TweetAs I said, it took me months of consistent pinning to get to a high number of clicks to my blog, and that’s completely normal. Being consistent and patience is definitely going to get you there.
WOW WOW WOW! we have come to the end of this amazing interview from an amazing blogger.
Thank you so much, Mariam, for giving me your time and also for sharing with our audiences your different Pinterest strategies you use in driving tons of traffic to your blog.
Its quite amazing Mariam!
I appreciate a lot and hope to have you over again in the future, thank you so much.
Now over to you, what have you learned from this? are you going to apply this strategy to receive traffic from Pinterest, as Mariam does?
or are you going to sit and do nothing, the choice is yours to make.

You are welcome!
Good insight and a great read for Pinterest tips! I’ll definitely start trying some of your tips and tricks.
You got it Ashley, Pinterest is a good source of traffic which should be use effectively. I wish you all the best.
I love this – personally, I’ve found that I can do 3-4 different pin designs for a single blog post and see which work well and which are falling short. Compare that to other blog posts that I’ve been sharing and I will start to see which style of design is resonating with my current audience, and which isn’t. This helps me to better plan out my pin designs moving forward.
This is very informative. Thank you for putting this information together. All the best!

I’ll be honest – I suck at Pinterest so this was a great read for me!
Another great post, Constance. Tbh I had kind of abandoned my Pins. Will pick them up now that I have some super tips

Thank you. This was helpful. I have been discouraged with Pinterest, but I’m only 3 months in. It is a good reminder that everything takes time.

Wow this really does just show you how incredible pinterest can be for blog views – I love/hate pinterest, when it works for me it’s the best thing ever. When it doesn’t, I hate it!
